1976年，克拉維斯(Henry Kravis)和表兄羅伯茨(George Roberts)以及他們的導師科爾博格(Jerome Kohlberg)共同創(chuàng)建了KKR公司，公司名稱正源于這三人姓氏的首字母。KKR公司是以收購、重整企業(yè)為主營業(yè)務的股權投資公司，尤其擅長管理層收購。KKR的投資者主要包括企業(yè)及公共養(yǎng)老金、金融機構、保險公司以及大學基金。在過去的30年當中，KKR累計完成了146項私募投資，交易總額超過了2630億美元。
